In basketball, not many names are as well-known as Stephen Curry’s. He is definitely one of the greatest players ever. Throughout his career, Curry has played alongside many talented teammates. Recently, he faced an interesting challenge when asked to name his greatest teammate of all time.
During a talk on Complex’s GOAT Talk, Curry was asked, “Who is his greatest teammate?” to which he replied, “That’s a dirty question. Well, I guess I’ll pick Klay Thompson. That’s my Splash Brother. There are a lot of great teammates to pick from. I didn’t like that question.“
This shows Curry’s and Thompson’s close friendship. They have created one of the best duos in NBA history and have won four championships together in their 13 seasons as teammates.
Thompson’s great stats—averaging 19.6 points, 3.5 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 0.9 steals, and 0.5 blocks per game, plus five All-Star selections and two All-NBA team honors—show how important he has been to the Warriors’ success.
The partnership between Thompson and Curry has played a crucial role in shaping the team’s identity and achievements. As training camp approached, Curry grew emotional while reflecting on Klay’s absence, realizing that it would truly hit him when they started preparing without his longtime teammate.

While Curry’s choice of Thompson as his best teammate shows their lasting partnership, there are other strong candidates for this title. Draymond Green, another important player in the Warriors’ success, has been a key part of the team for 11 seasons, winning four championships with Curry. Green’s defense and playmaking skills fit well with Curry’s scoring ability, making a strong case for him as the greatest teammate.

Besides naming his greatest teammate, Curry also named his toughest opponent. “Probably LeBron (James) and the Cleveland Cavaliers just because we had four different NBA Finals competitions together,” he said.
The rivalry between Curry and James is among the most famous in recent NBA history. From 2015 to 2018, the Warriors and Cavaliers faced each other in the NBA Finals for four straight years, delivering memorable moments and thrilling matchups.
