This offseason, the Golden State Warriors faced a significant shift as long-time star Klay Thompson signed with the Dallas Mavericks. This marked the end of an era for the Warriors, as the powerful trio of Thompson, Draymond Green, and Stephen Curry had been pivotal to the team’s success. Fans immediately began speculating about who would fill Thompson’s shoes.
Monte Poole of NBC Sports reported that the Warriors had identified their “No. 1 target” as Lauri Markkanen. According to The Athletic, the Warriors made a substantial offer for the forward. The offer was centered around Moses Moody and including multiple first-round picks, pick swaps, and second-rounders.
However, despite their efforts, no trade materialized. Draymond Green weighed in on the potential acquisition of Markkanen, expressing mixed feelings about the failed deal.
“That could have been trash, by the way. Markkanen coming here, we don’t know. We have never seen it. So there was no thought of what could have been because we don’t know what that looks like,” Green told ESPN last month.
Draymond Green Provided Injury Update Of Stephen Curry
Draymond Green’s teammate Stephen Curry did not play their regular season game against the New Orleans Pelicans. Curry was sidelined for an injury he suffered in the previous game. Following the Warriors’ win against the Pelicans, Draymond Green provided an update on Stephen Curry’s injury on the “Draymond Green Show.”
“It was very uplifting and refreshing to see him walking today. That was good to see; it gives you a little more hope than what you initially had when I saw him leave the floor,” Green said.

After a win against the Pelicans, the Warriors improved to 3-1. They face the Pelicans again in their next matchup. Unfortunately, Curry will also miss the game. The pressure now falls on Green and the rest of the team to continue stepping up in his absence.
