After failing to reach the 2024 NBA Playoffs, followed by Klay Thompson’s departure after 13 years, the Golden State Warriors were expected to make big moves in the summer. However, Steve Kerr’s side remained silent despite trade rumors circulating around NBA stars like Paul George and Lauri Markkanen.
The nine-time NBA All-Star signed a four-year, $211 million contract with the Philadelphia 76ers ahead of the 2024-25 season. On the other hand, Utah Jazz star Lauri Markkanen agreed to a four-year, $196 million contract extension that will keep him in Salt Lake City until 2029.
Recently, Warriors general manager Mike Dunleavy Jr. revealed the reason for not going all out for NBA stars like George and Markkanen ahead of the upcoming season. He said, “There’s no point in going all in to be slightly above average,” said Dunleavy while addressing the media.”
He added, “We’re probably as impatient as you can be as a franchise right now, given our time horizon. But there’s a fine line between impatience and undisciplined.”
Warriors GM Expresses Desire To Increase Kuminga And Moody’s Role
The San Francisco-based franchise won four NBA championships in eight years. However, Stephen Curry and Draymond Green are the only two remaining Warriors stars who participated in each championship. While their supporting stars kept changing, Dunleavy expressed his interest in increasing Jonathan Kuminga and Moses Moody’s roles to keep them with the Warriors for the long term.

On the other hand, Moses Moody also averaged career highs in all the major categories, including points, rebounds, and assists.
Kuminga and Moody will enter their fourth season in the NBA, and the Warriors are looking to hand them a bigger role in the 2024-25 season. The Golden State Warriors will travel to the Moda Center to face the Portland Trail Blazers in their season opener on October 23.
