This offseason saw Klay Thompson parting ways with the Golden State Warriors team with whom he played since his draft. After sparking speculation through his social media activity, Thompson officially joined the Dallas Mavericks, teaming up with Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving. As the Mavericks prepare for the upcoming season, Thompson is also looking for a fresh start.

With these changes in mind, former NBA star Gilbert Arenas recently shared his thoughts on Thompson’s transition to Dallas. Speaking on the “Gils Arena Show,” Arenas stated how the move could relieve some of the pressure Thompson faced with the Warriors.

“No one’s expecting Klay to average 21 PPG, 22 PPG. If he does, oh sh*t. But for the most part, that offense is run by two dudes. Going off during this season here and there,” Arenas said.

“He can come in and average 20 PPG; it’s going to be less pressure for him though,” he added.

” I’m going with Klay Thompson… I think because of his relevance. He’s going to be on a team that can contend for a title,” he said.

“His impact on Dallas and the number of shots that he is going to get as opposed to the guys that were taking those same exact shots a year ago, you’re going to see a dramatic difference in Dallas with Klay Thompson,” he added.

The Mavericks are set to face the Memphis Grizzlies in their season-opening game on October 8. Mavs fans are eager to see if Thompson’s presence can elevate the Mavericks from contenders to champions.
