Luka Doncic finished last season’s Western Conference Finals as the MVP, leading the Dallas Mavericks to their first final appearance in 13 years. The Dallas Mavericks star could certainly have won the NBA Finals MVP if his team had secured the title. Ultimately, they fell short to the Boston Celtics, with Jaylen Brown taking home the Finals MVP award.
Former NBA star Gilbert Arenas believes that this season could be Doncic’s year to finally claim the MVP crown. During the latest episode of Gil’s Arenas Show, Arenas shared his bold prediction for the Mavericks star, sharing Doncic’s potential to dominate the upcoming season.
“I don’t want to put this type of pressure on him. I’d be surprised if he didn’t average a triple-double. Because if you average that many assists with what you had, now you got who’s a catch-and-shoot, so some of your assists will come without even any effort this time,” Arenas said.
“He will probably be the number one candidate for MVP. He’s gonna do something that hasn’t been done in a few years,” he added.

Luka’s Mavericks will kick off the next season with a matchup against the San Antonio Spurs on October 24.
