While many people share a common view regarding the legacy of NBA legends, Gilbert Arenas often offers a different perspective. The former NBA star recently shocked his fans with his controversial stance that Michael Jordan should not belong on Team USA’s All-Time Starting Five.
Now Arenas has turned his attention to Stephen Curry. On the latest episode of his podcast, “Gil’s Arena,” the former NBA player expressed that he does not consider the Golden State Warriors superstar to be a true scorer. Instead, he believes players like Devin Booker better exemplify what it means to be a natural scorer.
“It’s an overall thing. Devin Booker would be considered more of a scorer than Steph—a natural scorer,” Arenas said.
Former NBA point guard Brandon Jennings was also a guest on Arenas’ show and was visibly shocked by Arenas’ opinion. Jennings challenged Arenas’ reasoning, questioning how he arrived at such a conclusion. However, the 42-year-old later went on to argue that Trae Young is a more natural scorer than Stephen Curry.
“Trae Young is considered more of a natural scorer than Curry. Do you see how we’re having trouble identifying [a scorer versus a shooter]? And we played! My brain is going to say, ‘How many dribbles is he taking to score?’ If we take away your handle and say, ‘One, two, pull up.’ How does he survive?” he added.
Gilbert Arenas Jokes About LeBron James’ Age
LeBron James is preparing to enter his 22nd season in the NBA, and he’s making headlines not just for his remarkable longevity but also for a historic moment. With his son, Bronny James, being drafted by the Los Angeles Lakers, LeBron and Bronny are set to become the first father-son duo to play in the NBA at the same time.

Despite this, Gilbert Arenas recently commented on LeBron’s age in a humorous yet pointed manner. During a recent episode of his show, Arenas joked about the impact of age on the Lakers star.
“He’s one party night away from being grandpa. Like, he’s one road trip in Miami; he goes to sleep too early. ‘Hey, Pops, you’ve got a grandson.’ That’s his look right now. Doesn’t look young no more,” Arenas said.
However, LeBron’s age has not stopped him from performing at a high level on the court. Recently, LeBron added another accolade to his storied career, winning his third gold medal with Team USA and winning the MVP of the 2024 Paris Olympics.
