Former NBA Superstar Gilbert Arenas is always vocal about his opinions. He has his own show on YouTube, called ‘Gils’ Arena’ where he does weekly games analysis and shares his thoughts.
The 3-time NBA All-Star was in the news last season due to his hot take on 2023 NBA Finals MVP Nikola Jokic. Arenas recently shared another controversial opinion, this time on the GOAT debate, when he said that the Timberwolves forward Anthony Edwards is currently ahead of NBA legend Michael Jordan, if we were to compare their respective ages at similar points in their careers.

Gilbert Arenas keeps Anthony Edwards ahead of Michael Jordan in GOAT debate
Recently, Chris Broussard said on the ‘First Things First’ show that Anthony Edwards is great for his age, and might even end up becoming the face of the NBA. However, when it comes to being the greatest player of all time, he might never even be in the conversation.
Gilbert Arenas shared his thoughts on the debate and said, “So, if he wins six championships, your narrative is gonna always be against him in this debate. When technically, he actually has a foot in front of Michael Jordan in the GOAT debate at the same age because Michael Jordan was 22 before his first game.”
Arenas, who had a $40 million contract with Adidas, has also spoken against Michael Jordan’s brand, Air Jordan. He told the athletes to stay away from the brand as according to him, it will not be a good business decision.

Arenas claims young athletes should not sign under Jordan brand
Arenas posted a reel on his Instagram handle with a caption that said, “Don’t Sign With Jordan,” as he shared his thoughts on the brand. According to Arenas, whatever Air Jordan edition will be created for a Jordan Brand signee would not top the original series by Air Jordan himself.
Arenas said, “You’re signing under the person himself who has a visible face that is iconic to basketball. Therefore, your shoe line can come out tomorrow and he [Jordan] can drop a 12 retro in a weird color, and everybody forgot about your shoe. That’s why no Jordan Brand players’ signature shoe popped technically because Michael Jordan already has this establishment.”
Many people did not agree with Gilbert Arenas’ opinion on MJ’s brand, as they cited examples of Luka Doncic, Carmelo Anthony, Chris Paul and many more, who have had a successful brand venture of their own with Air Jordan.
