Soccer megastar Kylian Mbappe’s move to Real Madrid was long-awaited after several years of his linkup with the Spanish Giants. While he garnered praise from many for his switch from PSG, a particular comment from Milwaukee Bucks’ ace Giannis Antetokounmpo caught the attention most for its unique nature.
After the move was announced, Giannis shared a childhood picture of Mbappe with former Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo posing in front of the club’s front office on his official Instagram handle. However, the picture had an odd thing about it. One would understand that instead of the French forward’s face, the Greek Freak pasted his childhood face.
The caption read, “After the negotiations with Al Hilal. Madrid I’m on my way!! Hilal Madrid… Oops I’m sorry I meant Hala Madrid” along with laughing emojis.
Saudi Arabic soccer club Al-Hilal approached Mbappe the previous year for a whopping $776 million one-year contract, but he declined it as he had other plans. Even back then, the Bucks forward jokingly wrote on X, “Al Hilal, you can take me. I look like Kylian Mbappé.”
Many others found it amusing, including the World Cup winner. Mbappe and Giannis share a healthy bond with some of soccer’s other leading faces.

The gift-giving began last year in October, with Giannis first sending his signature sneakers to Haaland, and the No. 9 reciprocated.
Based on his statistics, the 29-year-old had a good season, averaging 30.4 points, 11.5 rebounds, and 6.5 points per game in the regular season. However, due to his unfortunate left calf strain, Giannis couldn’t continue with the Bucks in the playoff runs. In the post-season tournament, the Milwaukee team couldn’t stand a chance against the Pacers and was swept in the first round.
Giannis has a contract with the franchise until the 2027-28 season. Moreover, the franchise wouldn’t want to lose the Greek-Nigerian who effortlessly carries the team on the offensive field.
