Former NBA players Michael Jordan and Gary Payton seem to have a long standing beef with each other that goes all the way back to their playing days. The two met in the 1996 NBA Finals where Jordan and his Bulls beat Payton and his Supersonics in six games to capture their fourth Championship of the 90’s.
In a recent interview, Payton was asked who he believed was a better all-around basketball player between Jordan and LeBron, and according to Gary, it is not even close.
Although Payton does bring up some valid points, he is clearly biased in his opinion. When the documentary ‘The Last Dance’ was released in 2020, a clip of Michael Jordan laughing hysterically when asked about Payton guarding him went viral, further adding gasoline to the fire.
Michael Jordan is widely considered by many as the G.O.A.T. in basketball, however, Lebron James is definitely in the conversation. Most people on Social Media did not agree with Payton’s assessment and let it be known:
