After the Timberwolves bagged game 1 of the series, many believed that game 2 would be the one where the Nuggets would restore parity. However, it was more of the same on Monday when the two sides met at the Ball Arena as the Minnesota team ran away with a 106-80 win.
But the big talking point after the game was Jamal Murray’s much-criticized act of throwing a heat pack on the court during the game. Talking on ESPN’s “Get Up” show, Jay Williams touched on the matter and asked for a suspension for the Canadian guard. “I feel like he should be suspended for a game. That was an inch away from Karl-Anthony Towns planting his right foot on that thing. That could have hurt him,” said a visibly annoyed Williams.
He further added that the move was an “immature” one from the 27-year-old, and there should be a significant punishment for that. Tim Legler also chimed in, echoing the same sentiments after highlighting the damage the heating pad could’ve caused to anyone landing on it.
Later, videos surfaced on the internet, showing that the heat pack wasn’t the only thing Murray threw on the playing area.
Video Evidence Catches Jamal Murray Throwing Towel at Ref
While the second-quarter heat pack incident went viral during the game, another moment of madness from Jamal Murray came to light after the game.
The former Kentucky guard hurled a towel from the bench just before throwing the heat pack on the court. The towel landed just behind crew chief Marc Davis, who was unaware of the projectile.

After the game, Davis admitted that Jamal Murray should’ve received a tech foul for throwing the heat pack on the court. Since they were unable to spot it, they did not call it. As of the time of writing, the NBA has not announced any punishment for Murray, but things could certainly take a wrong turn for the 2023 NBA Champion.
