The Orlando Magic was hit with a major blow as Franz Wagner tore his oblique in early December, 2024. Since December 6, he has been sidelined, making things significantly difficult for the Magic. In over one month of his absence, the Magic had played 18 games. Unfortunately, they have succumbed to losses in 11 of them while winning just 7. Thus, it is of great interest both for the fans and the team on what the injury status is for Wagner.
Thankfully, things are looking quite rosy for Franz Wagner at the moment. In an upbeat statement from the Magic recently, Wagner is said to have resumed contact work and is expected to make a comeback to the side pretty soon. ESPN’s Cassidy Hubbarth shared the news and also said that the charismatic NBA star is due for return within 7-10 days.
“Orlando Magic F Franz Wagner (torn right oblique) has started contact work and is ramping up towards a return. @CassidyHubbarth on the ESPN broadcast said she’s told Magic are hopeful he could be back within the next 7-10 days. Franz was recently elevated in his injury status.” read an X post from a user named ‘@FAmer_.’

Surely, the return of Wagner will be a much needed boost for the Magic. Afterall, before his injury, Wagner was averaging 24.4 points per game in 25 games! Meanwhile, Paolo Banchero looked quite excited hearing the news of Wagner’s return.
Paolo Banchero Waits For Franz Wagner To Come Back
Paolo Banchero knows exactly how Franz Wagner has felt for all these days. Afterall, he also suffered an identical injury back on October 30, 2024. While he has already made his return to the team, Banchero cannot wait to welcome back his partner.
“Obviously, he’s had to sit out for a while now, and we’re all eager to have him back, It’s just good to have him back, participating in some shootarounds and stuff like that. Can’t wait to have him back out there,” Banchero told reporters recently.
