Russell Westbrook has faced a great deal of criticism from the sports community recently. An NFL legend has called him out for being disappointing in crucial game situations. Additionally, several fans, players, and analysts have overlooked Westbrook’s impressive achievements while focusing on his shortcomings.
To counter the negativity aimed at Westbrook, former NBA player Gilbert Arenas has come to his defense. In a recent episode of The Gil’s Arena Show, Arenas declared that Westbrook is the greatest point guard of all time.
“It’s weird because it’s like they were trying to discredit his triple-doubles because it was too easy for him. He’s changing history, and when motherf*****s have heroes, it’s hard for them to let go sometimes. I think while trying to say, ‘These stats ain’t real,’ you became disrespectful to the man who was doing it. These same people who are voting [for MVP] got your legacy in their hands, so if you don’t kiss their asses, they f*ck with your legacy. And that’s the bug problem with sports,” Arenas said.
