Golden State Warriors superstar Stephen Curry took a big step in an attempt to launch a potential career within the Democratic Party.
On Thursday night, Curry endorsed Kamala Harris for president at the Democratic National Convention in a pre-recorded message.
“That unity on and off the court reminded us that together we can do all things and continue to inspire the world,” Curry said. “That’s why I believe that Kamala as president can bring that unity back and continue to move our country forward. This is about preserving hope and belief in our country. Making sure families can be taken care of in their most precious times.”
Curry’s full comments, per Yahoo Sports:
“What’s up everybody, Stephen Curry here. I know y’all know I play for the Golden State Warriors, but man, what a great honor it was representing Team USA, going out there and winning that gold medal at the Olympics this summer. And that unity on and off the court reminded us all that together, we can do all things and continue to inspire the world. That’s why I believe that Kamala, as president, could bring that unity back and continue to move our country forward. This is about preserving hope and belief in our country, making sure families can be taken care of during their most precious times.
“I got to visit Kamala with my team in the White House last year, and I can tell you one thing. I knew then and I definitely know now, the Oval Office suits her well. So, in the words of Michelle Obama, do something. Go vote. Be active. Let’s show out in November, like never before. It’s been an honor for me to represent our country. It’s an honor to support Kamala. Let’s all do our part, and God bless.”

His endorsement was met with praise, but also with a ton of backlash.
Stephen Curry’s comments sent shockwaves through former New Orleans Saints quarterback Luke McCown.
McCown took to his X account and commented on the video of the Golden State Warriors superstar endorsing Kamala, bringing up his comments while pointing to who is in office.
“Again you can’t say bring unity and hope back, as if someone else has been at the helm for the last almost 4yrs…,” McCown wrote. “They’ve been there for a minute now. C’mon man.”
Stephen Curry has not and is unlikely to respond to what McCown said about his words during his endorsement.
Stephen Curry Endorsing Kamala Harris Comes After His Head Coach Did The Same
Stephen Curry’s endorsement of Kamala Harris came two days after his head coach, Steve Kerr, made a speech in person with a similar message of support for Harris.
Kerr, who led the U.S. men’s basketball team to a gold medal at the Paris, spoke Monday night at the Democratic National Convention in support of Vice President Kamala Harris and running mate Tim Walz.
“I believe leaders must display dignity. I believe that leaders must tell the truth,” Kerr said, per Fox News. “I believe that leaders must care for and love the people that they are leading.
“If you look for those qualities in your friends or a boss or an employee or your child’s teacher or your mayor, then shouldn’t you want those same qualities in your president? And when you think about it that way, this is no contest. With Kamala Harris and Tim Walz, I see all those qualities.
“Leadership, real leadership, is not the kind that seeks to divide us, but the kind that recognizes and celebrates our common purpose.”
