Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James has been in the spotlight recently for his inconsistent performance and missing the team’s last two games. Amid this scrutiny, former NBA veteran Stephon Marbury reignited a decade-old feud, calling out James for past comments about his affordable sneaker line.
In 2007, Marbury launched his “Starbury” shoes, priced at around $15, to make them accessible to everyone. Marbury’s affordable sneaker initiative was praised for its intention to support low-income families, particularly in cities like Akron, where James grew up.
However, James seemingly dismissed the idea of endorsing discounted shoes at the time. It appears to have left a lasting rift between the two players. On Friday, Marbury took to social media to express his long-standing disappointment with James’ stance.
Yeah, I lost all respect for LeBron James when he disrespected my brand that was helping the people in Akron, Ohio. It’s been and will be up for life. So it’s okay; you will learn to deal with it. https://t.co/Br3GgXRwQw
