Honestly, the Luka Doncic trade came out of nowhere, and the league had no time to ask why, what, and where. And everybody just moved away with the very next trade. But even a week after the trade, former NBA star Jalen Rose, who played for six teams in his 13-season career, has not gotten over it.
Recently, the former NBA swingman took to X(formerly Twitter) to lambast the Dallas Mavericks franchise. He went above and beyond to shame the franchise for not being able to facilitate a generational player like Doncic and just trading him off. According to Rose, trading Luka at just 25 years of age was a blunder they should have avoided at all costs.
“Dear Dallas Mavs, if you’re not willing to pay Luka, you might as well sell the team! I’ll be very direct about what I think. Y’all could talk about him being out of shape… y’all could talk about his lifestyle, his bad habits… or whatever. Here’s what I do know: he’s 25-years-old, he’s been All-NBA five times and he just led y’all to the Finals!” Rose wrote in his tweet.

He also argued that despite any perceived personal flaws, young players should be given the opportunity to grow and mature in their careers. By drawing comparisons to NBA legends like Larry Bird, Rose emphasized Doncic’s significant potential. Other than praising Doncic, Rose congratulated the Los Angeles Lakers for acquiring him.

Dallas Fans Protest Against Luka Doncic Trade
Recently, it was evident that Jalen Rose is not the only one against the trade. Luka Doncic’s trade has sparked significant outrage among Mavericks fans as well. During the Mavs last game against the Houston Rockets, fans were seen protesting outside the American Airlines Center.

It has been a week since the shocking move, and supporters of the team have taken to the streets to express their heartbreak and anger over losing the face of the franchise. Signs of discontent filled the protests as fans held big posters with “Miss you Luka” slogans written all over.

However, many fans directed their frustration towards the Mavericks owner, Nico Harrison. Angry supporters are calling for his firing as he played the main role in the Anthony Davis-Luka Doncic trade.
Alongside the protests, fans have utilized digital billboards in the city to convey their feelings about the controversial trade. Messages on these billboards lament the loss of Doncic and reference his legacy, juxtaposing it with the words on Dirk Nowitzki’s statue.
