Many NBA players have been seen smoking in public places, with most of them smoking marijuana in various locations. Some players have openly discussed their marijuana use. In a 2022 interview, Kevin Durant openly talked about using marijuana and mentioned that it helps him relax and benefits his mental health. Similarly, Kawhi Leonard has also been seen smoking marijuana at Kendrick Lamar’s show in Los Angeles. During a recent interview with VladTV, former NBA player Sebastian Telfair was asked about drug use in the league. He claimed that the majority of NBA players would fail drug tests because of marijuana use, despite steroid use being uncommon during his time in the league.
“Steroids? No… When I got my first chance in the NBA, it was one drug test. Then, in my second year, the CBA came in, and then it became four. So then my whole career I went through, it was four drug tests a year… Random, which is stupid. NBA owes Michael Beasley some money, they ruined his career with that sh*t. Absolutely. 95% of the NBA. I will say 80% of players have failed a drug test before. Bud, marijuana. Steroids? Umm, nah. When I was in the NBA, so I was in the room. It’s another curtain that you have to get behind. They ain’t let me behind that other curtain. I don’t know.” Telfair said during the interview with DJ Vlad.
Sebastian Telfair Weighs in on WNBA Rising Star Caitlin Clark
During the same interview, Telfair also discussed the future of WNBA standout Caitlin Clark. Telfair praised Clark for her exceptional shooting skills and her ability to draw attention to women’s basketball. However, when asked if Clark could play in the NBA, Telfair expressed doubt, noting the challenges female players would face in matching the strength and speed of the NBA.
“No, Is it a girl that could play in the NBA? Maybe, but Nah, Maybe the speed. She can make shots in the NBA, but play now, come off of screens, make passes, and all that. Nah…” Telfair added.
