Tracy McGrady was recently asked to choose one of the three best players of their generation—LeBron James, Stephen Curry, or Kevin Durant to launch a new team with. Unlike most people, McGrady did not struggle to choose among the three.
Even though Durant and Curry are excellent players, LeBron would also be my choice. James performs a wide range of tasks on the floor at a high level, which helps to hide many of the team’s shortcomings, as McGrady said.
McGrady said, “Bron, I mean that’s an obvious choice, LeBron… When he (Curry) faced LeBron, LeBron has always been the best player in the series. KD has been the better scorer, but you cannot take anybody over LeBron James in today’s game. He does too much.”
He added, “Now, you might have to change your game because he dominates the ball, but it works for his teams. You’re going to win or at least get there and play for it. I’m going with Bron all day and I love KD, I love Steph. But Bron brings too much and does so much.”
LeBron has made an incredible ten visits to the NBA Finals during his career, largely due to his flexibility. In the process, he has won four titles. But if Curry and Durant hadn’t joined the Warriors in 2016, that total would have been greater.
Why Is LeBron James The Safest Option To Start A Franchise With?
Even though Durant and Curry are excellent players, LeBron would also be my choice. James performs a wide range of tasks on the floor at a high level, which helps to hide many of the team’s shortcomings, as McGrady said. With career averages of 27.1 points, 7.5 rebounds, 7.4 assists, 1.5 steals, and 0.7 blocks per game, the 20-time All-Star can customize his style of play to fit the players surrounding him.

LeBron can go out there and average more than thirty points a game if his team needs him to be a high-level scorer. If surrounded by guys who can score, he may be the team’s facilitator. This explains why he’s the go-to choice for someone building an NBA franchise. His achievements and stats are enough to convince anyone out there.
There will always be an argument about why we should not choose from Steph Curry, Kevin Durant, or even Luka Doncic. However, these stars have mainly focused on teams with a muscular build. On the other hand, LeBron James has led a team of veterans and even rookies. So, LeBron might be the safest option over any other NBA superstar.
