Former Kansas Jayhawk forward Scot Pollard got some major news this week.
The former NBA center Scot Pollard was released from the hospital two weeks after undergoing a heart transplant.
Pollard’s wife, Dawn, posted a video on social media showing him walking out of the hospital and ringing the bell, 13 days after receiving a heart transplant at the Vanderbilt Transplant Center in Nashville, Tennessee.
“HE MADE IT!! 13 days post heart transplant and he got to ring the bell!,” Dawn Pollard posted on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Wearing a shirt reading “But did you die?,” Pollard danced down the hallway, shaking hands with doctors and medical staff on his way to the bell.
Pollard was placed on the heart transplant list in Indiana after three ablations and multiple medicines.

This miraculous moment arrived less than a month after Pollard was admitted to Vanderbilt’s intensive care unit with a condition exacerbated by a genetic disorder that caused his heart to beat an extra 10,000 times per day.
He stated last month that he wasn’t leaving the hospital until he found a donor and underwent a transplant.
Pollard played four seasons at Kansas from 1993-97 before joining the NBA as the No. 19 pick in the draft by the Detroit Pistons. He would go on to play 11 NBA seasons with the Pistons, Sacramento Kings, Indiana Pacers, Cleveland Cavaliers and Boston Celtics.
He won an NBA championship in 2008 in his final NBA season with the Celtics.
