LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers suffered a tough defeat on Monday night, falling to the Minnesota Timberwolves 109-80. This came after a narrow 105-104 win over the Utah Jazz just a day earlier. James had a tough night as he struggled with his shooting, making just 4 of 16 shots from the field and failing to hit any of his four three-point attempts. It marked his sixth consecutive game, shooting under 45%.
Amid the recent slump in his performance, former NBA star Kendrick Perkins offered a unique perspective on the situation, hinting at the end of LeBron’s career. Perkins used a metaphor involving his grandfather’s old car to explain James’ struggles. The former NBA star compared the King’s age to a car that begins to show wear and tear after hitting 100,000 miles.
“A car running perfectly can fall apart after it hits 100k miles. Age 40 might be his 100k. I mean at least that what my grandfather told me when his Oldsmobile stopped running,” Perkins wrote on X.

On top of his shooting woes, James finished the game with just 10 points, four rebounds, and two assists. Although it was a rough outing for the 39-year-old, many will still have faith in his ability to bounce back, as his career has been filled with incredible comebacks.
LeBron James Reflects On Lakers’ Offensive Woes Following Timberwolves Defeat
After the Lakers’ tough loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves, LeBron James spoke out about the team’s struggles on offense. He explained that the focus on improving their defense has hurt their offensive performance.
“We’re just not good offensively right now. I think we spent so much time on trying to get our defense corrected that our offense just took a toll and took a back seat to that,” James said.
