Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green is well-known for his aggressive playing style. From choking Rudy Gobert to punching Jordan Poole during a practice session, Green has demonstrated his intense nature on multiple occasions. One notable incident occurred during the 2016 Western Conference Finals when the forward hit Steven Adams in the groin twice.
In a recent episode of the Draymond Green Show, Houston Rockets point guard Fred VanVleet addressed Green’s friendship with Adams. During their conversation, VanVleet humorously accused Green of kicking Adams in the groin.
Draymond Green: Me and Steven Adams don’t really get into it much… I think there’s a mutual respect there.
Fred VanVleet: Didn’t you kick my man in the nuts?
Dray: I was selling the call.
Fred: you kicked my dawg in the nuts man, c’mon with that sh*t.

During Game 3, Green was initially assessed a Flagrant Foul 1 for a strike to the groin area. This was later upgraded to a Flagrant Foul 2, which resulted in a $25,000 fine for his actions. Remarkably, the Warriors went on to win the series, overcoming a significant 3-1 deficit to win in seven games.
Steven Adams Sees No Intent In Draymond Green’s Actions
On December 30, 2019, Steven Adams discussed the incident involving Green during an episode of The Lowe Post podcast. Adams stated that he does not think Green’s actions were deliberate, emphasizing that the four-time NBA champion did not strike him intentionally.
“That’s a tough one. It is. That’s a tough one… Nah, nah, he didn’t… I think he wanted to flail — he intentionally wanted to flail — but I don’t think (he thought), ‘Let me just pinpoint, accurate, shin right into old mate’s crown jewels.’ I don’t think he thought that. I thought he was like, ‘Ah, there’s contact, flail, bang.’ Twice in the same series.” Adams said.
Green’s aggressive play didn’t stop after the $25000 fine. During the 2016 NBA Finals against the Cleveland Cavaliers, the forward swung his arm and seemingly made contact with LeBron James’ groin. This incident resulted in his suspension for Game 5 of the series.
