In a 2023 episode of the “All the Smoke” podcast, former NBA champion Chandler Parsons shared his thoughts on the Mavs’ superstar. Parsons, who had the privilege of seeing Luka’s skills up close, described him as this generation’s Magic Johnson due to his unique control of the game.

Parsons later highlighted Luka’s incredible ability to dominate without necessarily relying on traditional athletic explosiveness. Parsons also noted that Luka brings an element of joy to the game, much like Magic did during his playing days.
“He does some of the craziest stuff in practice, and the dude does it laughing. Like Magic. That’s why I say like Magic because his personality is always laughs and smiles and love. He’s easygoing. He’s special,” he added.

“We texted back and forth. I just let him know [that] regardless of how this NBA business shakes out, this is always bigger than that. We’re loyal to each other’s families. We had a lot of sacred conversations that went beyond the court,” Irving said.
Previously, Irving expressed his surprise upon hearing that Luka Doncic had been traded. Prior to the trade, Irving had spent two and a half seasons playing alongside Doncic.
