In their latest game, Young played a significant role in leading the Atlanta Hawks to a score of 108-100 over the Knicks. However, opening up about Young, former NBA champion Kendrick Perkins had a surprising comparison to make. “Trae Young is the most disrespected star since Carmelo Anthony. Both were one-and-done phenoms, both took both of their franchises to the conference finals. Still, they were disrespected and the fans were ungrateful for what Carmelo done and now what Trae Young is doing,” said Perkins in an episode of ‘NBA Countdown.’

Now, that is quite a big comparison. Carmelo Anthony ranks among the best NBA scorers of all time. Unfortunately, he could never win an NBA championship, but Anthony did get to the conference finals once. On the contrary, playing only his seventh season, Young still has a lot of time to outperform Anthony in this regard. Meanwhile, it is not only Perkins who feels Young is not aptly treated. A former Clippers star recently had an interesting proposal for the Hawks’ star.
Austin Rivers Asks Trae Young To ‘Leave’ Atlanta Hawks
Austin Rivers pointed out a massive disparity between Trae Young’s and the Atlanta Hawks’ performances. While Young has performed regularly, his team has failed to capitalize on his fiery form. Languishing at the middle of the table, the Hawks have three games under .500 at 8-11. This is something that the former Clippers’ star is not okay with.

Rivers feels that the Hawks cannot capitalize on Young’s true potential. Thus, he wants the 26-year-old to leave his current team. “Every time I turn on the Hawks, it’s a game that nobody gives a f*** about who wins… Get out of there, get out,” Rivers stated in the ‘OffGuard podcast. Thus, with a lot of noise going on, it will be interesting to see what the future has in store for Trae Young.
