The Boston Celtics created history with their 18th NBA championship victory in 2024. While many praised the star duo of Jayson Tatum and Finals MVP Jaylen Brown, Celtics coach Joe Mazzulla had a major impact on their championship run. Three-time NBA champion Udonis Haslem recently admitted Mazzulla’s influence in his second season.
On September 16, CBS Sports ranked the top 30 coaches in the NBA ahead of the 2024-25 season. Fans on social media reacted to Golden State Warriors coach Steve Kerr ranked above the last two NBA championship-winning coaches. Recently, Udonis Haslem called out the media for placing the Celtics coach in the 11th spot.
During a recent episode of the “OG’s Podcast,” Haslem blasted the media over Mazzulla’s ranking in the best NBA coaches list. He said, “Recently, there was a poll that came out on the top coaches in the NBA, and it had Joe Mazzulla at number 11. There ain’t 10 coaches in the league better than Joe Mazzulla…”
Udonis Haslem Ranked Joe Mazzulla Among Top 8 NBA Coaches
The former Miami Heat star continued his frustration and ranked Mazzulla in the top eight NBA coaches. “I don’t see ten coaches on there better than Joe Mazzulla. And I ain’t picking and choosing who come out that thing, but I know Joe Mazzulla definitely should be in the top eight,” Haslem added.
Earlier this month, Mazzulla gave a cheeky response to ‘Locked On Celtics’ host John Karalis, who asked about getting targeted by other NBA teams in the upcoming season. He said, “People are going to say the target’s on our back, but I hope it’s right in our forehead, in between our eyes. I hope I can see the red dot.”
