A former ESPN sportscaster is very lucky to be alive after getting expelled from the window of an RV and onto a busy California freeway.
Cordell Patrick, known for a stint with The Worldwide Leader in Sports, is recovering on the back of the chilling incident and credits divine intervention due to how close his ordeal was to being fatal.
Patrick and his wife were heading home to Valencia along the 14 Freeway south of Newhall Avenue when their RV hit the central median, sending him flying out of the window onto the opposite roadway.
Dashboard camera footage caught the incident, showing the former broadcaster rolling multiple times after being flung from the vehicle.

The couple were on their way back home from a camping trip in Menifee when Patrick’s wife, who was driving, suddenly fell asleep. Patrick, who had just gotten up to use the restroom, tried taking control of the wheel before the RV struck the median, resulting in him ending up on the freeway.

Alf Smithey, who stopped to help, says he found the former sportscaster conscious and worried about his wife.
Patrick suffered several serious injuries, including multiple fractures, a dislocated shoulder, head lacerations, and road rash over 60 percent of his body.
Despite his many injuries, Patrick is mostly concerned about his wife, who blacked out during the collision and is undergoing medical testing.
He says he’s only alive through the grace of God.
