Last night, during Game 6 of the NBA Finals at Oracle Arena, the Toronto Raptors made history by winning their first ever championship in franchise history.
One of the most important figures in the Raptors’ rise to glory has been team president of basketball operations, Masai Ujiri. He’s the one who manufactured all of those key trades, like the ones that brought Finals MVP Kawhi Leonard and veteran center Marc Gasol to Toronto. So when all of his work had finally paid off in the form of a Larry O’Brien Trophy, of course Masai wanted to get down to court lever to celebrate with his players.
Sadly, there was at least one sheriff’s deputy in Oracle Arena who wasn’t about to let that happen on his watch. But when he tried stopping Masai from getting onto the court, he was met with a slap in the face from the Raptors exec.

According to the reports, Masai was stopped by the officer because he did not have proper credentials. The Alameda County Sheriff’s Office is currently calling the incident a misdemeanor battery of an officer. Both they and the Oakland Police Department are investigating the matter. No arrests have been made but the case is expected to be handed over to the district attorney.
