The family of the female involved in the Josh Giddey case has lawyered up amid the troubling allegations pointing to the NBA star, per ESPN.
Gloria Allred, a popular attorney who has advocated for women involved in cases against celebrity male figures and other men in positions of power, has confirmed that she is representing said family. She did not offer comment when pressed by the network.
The NBA is investigating allegations claiming the Oklahoma Thunder shooting guard was in a relationship with a minor. The Newport Beach, California, police department has also opened its own investigations.
A post that has since been deleted showed Giddey in various bits of media along with the female, who is said to have been a high school junior at the time. The social media account that shared the post has also been deactivated.
Giddey turned 21 in October. It’s reported that he hooked up with the female while he was 19, having believed that she was also 19 as he met her in a club that doesn’t admit people under 18.
The Australian was the No. 6 overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft and went on to make the All-Rookie team in 2021/22. He is averaging 12.0 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 4.2 assists per game for the Thunder this season. He has continued to play on the back of the revelations while refusing to comment on them.
