A fan tragically passed away at the Kings-Pelicans game on Monday night.
The Kings were playing a home fixture at their Golden 1 Center on the night when they issued a statement revealing a fan had died following a medical emergency during the first quarter.
“During the first quarter of the Kings vs. Pelicans game, a guest had a medical emergency,” the team said. “EMS immediately responded and administered CPR. Tragically, these efforts were unsuccessful and the guest passed away. The organization offers its deepest condolences to the guest’s family and loved ones.”
According to the Sacramento Metro Fire Department, the victim was male and in his 30s. FOX40 News also reports that he was unresponsive when medics got to him and was pronounced dead around 20 minutes thereafter.
Kings forward Keegan Murray spoke to reporters after the 127-117 loss and revealed that the players weren’t made aware of the situation during the game.
“As a team, we give our condolences,” he said. “Hopefully, the family is being taken care of.”
