A former NBA player one of many people who did not appreciate the joke that Chris Rock told during the Oscars that got him smacked in the face. Rock made a joke about Pinkett Smith’s short hair, saying he looks forward to watching her in “G.I. Jane II.”
The joke infuriated Will Smith, who rushed the stage and slapped Rock, before telling him to keep his wife’s name “out of your f—king mouth.”
Former NBA player Charlie Villanueva, who battles alopecia like Pinkett Smith, is said to be very furious at Rock for the insensitive joke.
“She voiced that she struggled with [Alopecia], and Chris Rock thought it was cool to crack a joke,” Villanueva said. “We are not with Jada everyday to know the level of the struggle, but Will does.”
“As I don’t condone violence, Im proud that Will Smith stood up for his wife.”
Villanueva played in the NBA from 2005-16.
The former NBA player knows what it is like to be on the receiving end of a joke or trash talk as Kevin Garnett famously and also allegedly called him a “cancer patient” way back in 2010.

One of Villanueva’s tweets read: “KG called me a cancer patient, I’m (mad) because, u know how many people died from cancer, and he’s tossing it like it’s a joke.”
Garnett issued a statement after the matter.
“I am aware there was a major miscommunication regarding something I said on the court last night. My comment to Charlie Villanueva was in fact: You are cancerous to your team and our league,'” Garnett said. “I would never be insensitive to the brave struggle that cancer patients endure. I have lost loved ones to this deadly disease and have a family member currently undergoing treatment. I would never say anything that distasteful. The game of life is far bigger than the game of basketball.”
