The upcoming season brings a wave of concern for Kawhi Leonard and the Los Angeles Clippers as the star forward recovers from an injury sustained a few months ago. This marks the fourth consecutive season where Leonard has been sidelined due to injury, which raises alarms among fans.
Additionally, Leonard was initially selected to represent the United States in the Paris Olympics. However, due to his ongoing injury issues, he was ultimately replaced by Derrick White.
In a recent press conference, Lawrence Frank, the Clippers’ president of basketball operations, provided an update on Leonard’s condition. Frank emphasized the importance of ensuring that Leonard is fully healthy in the long term.
“Obviously, he was cleared medically. I watched him prepare for it; I was there at the first 2 practices. I was really disappointed that they didn’t give him a longer runway… The swelling did subside the way that we thought from a timing standpoint, and it just took a little bit longer for the swelling to get to where it is now,” Frank said.
“The goal is to get him at 100 percent so he can have a great season, not just this season but for many years,” he added.
Clippers Fans Anxious as Injury Woes Shadow Kawhi Leonard’s Return
Last season, the Clippers finished with a solid 51-31 record, securing the fourth spot in the Western Conference. However, their playoff run was cut short as they fell to the Dallas Mavericks with a 2-4 record.

Given Kawhi Leonard’s struggles with injuries, Clippers fans took to social media to express their concerns. They view Frank’s comments as a red flag for the upcoming season. Fans are apprehensive, as they speculate about the possibility of another lackluster season plagued by injuries.
Leonard played in only 64 games the previous season. In those games, he averaged 23.7 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 3.6 assists per game. As the Clippers prepare for the new season, they hope Leonard will be able to return to form and help lead the team to success.
