Last season was a dream come true for the Boston Celtics as they claimed their 18th NBA title, defeating the Dallas Mavericks 4-1 in the Finals. This victory allowed the Celtics to surpass the Los Angeles Lakers for the most NBA championships won. The Lakers’ last title came in 2020, which was their 17th. However, their efforts to win another championship have fallen short since then.

NBC Sports Boston recently made a subtle jab at their 2020 title to add more frustration for the Lakers fans. During a broadcast graphic depicting the NBA’s winningest franchises, NBC Sports Boston pointed out that the Lakers’ 17 championships included the “Disney World title” in 2020, referring to the fact that all games during that season were played inside the NBA bubble at Walt Disney World in Florida due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Celtics’ shot at the Lakers didn’t go unnoticed, and many NBA fans fired back. Some claimed the Celtics’ 18th championship came on the “easiest road” to a title, while others criticized the legitimacy of the Celtics’ earlier championships.

Boston only got 5 titles during the modern era 81, 84, 86, 08, 24 meanwhile the Lakers were winning titles in 80, 82, 85, 87, 88, 2000 thru 2002, 09, 10, 20. Don’t compare us to no damn Celtics. Celtics won all them titles when it was 8 teams in the league 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Giannis Antetokounmpo Names The Boston Celtics’ Jaylen Brown Best Player

During a recent interview with Complex Sports, Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo made a surprising statement, naming Boston Celtics’ Jaylen Brown as the best player in the NBA. Antetokounmpo explained his reasoning by tying the title “best player” to championship success.

“I feel like the best player is the guy that wins a championship, wins it all, and is the best player for his team. So the best player in the NBA, probably I would say is Jaylen Brown,” Antetokounmpo said.

“You cannot say you’re the best player if you’re on a team who didn’t win. It doesn’t matter if you got the MVP or you’re All-NBA. If you don’t make your team win, that’s not the best,” he added.

With Brown, the Celtics kicked off the season with a 132-109 win. Brown scored 23 points, 7 rebounds, and 1 assist in the Celtics season opener game against the New York Knicks.
