In the previous NBA season, the Golden State Warriors’ star player, Stephen Curry, was unable to lead the team to the playoffs as they lost in the play-in tournament. However, he showcased remarkable performances at the 2024 Paris Olympics, where he impressed everyone with his stellar play. Curry’s dominance in the Olympic semifinals and finals altered the perspective of numerous fans and players, including a former NBA player.
In a recent episode of the “Gil’s Arenas Show,” host Gilbert Arenas, who recently criticized Michael Jordan, was asked to name his top five greatest players. However, he mentioned six names instead of five, with Curry’s name included in the 6th position.
“I got six people in the top five. So my original top five, MJ, LeBron, Kobe, Shaq, and Magic, and then I added Steph, yeah. I don’t know who to push out, so it’s gonna you have to give me some time. Somebody gonna have to f*** up; somebody gonna have to say something stupid to the media and give me a reason. But right now, I have six people in my top five.”
Gilbert Arenas selected Michael Jordan, LeBron James, Kobe Bryant, Shaquille O’Neal, and Magic Johnson as his top five players. However, Arenas’ selection disappointed the NBA fans, as several fans thought that Curry must be included in the top five and not in the sixth position. Other fans criticized Arenas and mentioned that his opinion about Curry changes in every episode of his podcast.

Stephen Curry’s Stunning Olympics Play In Paris Transforms Arenas’ Perspective
Steph Curry, widely regarded as the greatest point guard in NBA history, showcased terrific skills in the 2024 Olympics. The four-time NBA champion delivered several dominating performances for Team USA. However, his best displays came in the semifinals and finals of the Olympics. Arenas mentioned that Curry’s remarkable performances have solidified his position in his list of great players.
“That Olympic performance kinda did it for me. As a hooper, there’s moments in history and moments and times in your game where you have to, when the light is on, you shine. And that was it, right? All the things he’s ever done for, like, some of them championships, right, they were just better than everybody.”
In a previous interview, Arenas criticized the Warriors star, stating that he is not a generational talent. However, after witnessing Curry’s exceptional skills in international competition, the former NBA player revised his opinion of Curry and included him in the list of all-time greats.
