Anthony Edwards, the star player of the Minnesota Timberwolves, showcased his exceptional skills throughout the previous NBA season and kept impressing everyone during the offseason. The Timberwolves star represented his country at the 2024 Paris Olympics. He secured his first gold medal alongside star players such as LeBron James and Anthony Davis.
As the NBA preseason got underway, the trio, who had previously played together in international competition, were on opposing teams in the NBA. However, Basketball fans became intrigued when Edwards recently greeted James and Davis.
Several NBA fans started expecting that Edwards would join the Los Angeles Lakers in the future after watching a video of the trio uploaded by the NBA Central on X (formerly Twitter). One fan said, “all 3 on one team soon.”
Meanwhile, another fan mentioned, “Ant is a future Laker.”

Karl-Anthony Towns Designates Anthony Edwards as the Future Face of the NBA
During a recent appearance on Shannon Sharpe’s Club Shay Shay podcast, Anthony Edwards’ former teammate Karl-Anthony Towns had high praise for the Timberwolves star. He mentioned that while Edwards may remind people of the Chicago Bulls legend Michael Jordan, it’s important to remember that he is his own personality and should be recognized as the first Anthony Edwards.
“I think he has the charisma, age is on his side, he has the athleticism. He got better at shooting, I think he could do it. This is a very guard-friendly league and he’s a guard that has — not only the skill but the intangibles needed to really be the face of the NBA for years to come,” Towns said to NFL legend Sharpe.
Towns was traded to the New York Knicks on October 2, 2024, and Edwards recently spoke out about his teammate’s departure. Even though they are not teammates anymore, their bond will remain strong.
The NBA preseason has started, but Edwards didn’t play in the first preseason game against the Los Angeles Lakers. Seeing him take the court and showcase his skills in the next game against the Philadelphia 76ers will be exciting.
