Ever since LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers won the 2020 NBA championship inside the league’s Orlando, Fla. bubble, many have tried to discredit it as not being a real title because of the circumstances it was won under. In reality, most fans may not want to count it as real, but had LeBron and the Lakers lost, they would certainly call him out for his record.
Former NBA player Evan Turner brought this up recently when he threw some shade at James by saying if there’s ever another postseason played in a bubble, the championship trophy given out should be named after him.
“If we ever have a bubble championship again then that specific trophy should be named after him”
Turner responded to the backlash by reciting a line from LeBron during his Miami days:
“I’ve been getting harassed non stop since I tweeted about the bron bron trophy..it’s only fitting that I respond with this:
“At the end of the day, all the people who want to see me fail, they gotta wake up tomorrow and have the same life they had when they woke up today.”

This only came up after the NBA announced changes to its Most Valuable Player award as well as several other league honors on Tuesday. The league’s MVP is now named The Michael Jordan Trophy in honor of the Bulls legend.
Evan Turner, the former No. 2 pick in the 2010 NBA draft, played for several teams in the NBA including the 76ers, the Pacers, the Celtics, the Trail Blazers and the Hawks.
Since the Lakers secured their 17th NBA title, the Lakers lost in the first round of the playoffs to the Suns before failing to make the postseason altogether last season.
Evan Turner played 10 seasons in the NBA before making the first transition of his career. He became a member of the Boston Celtics’ coaching staff under Brad Stevens.
