Mark Jones is trending this week after he took some time during his call of last night’s Lakers-Bucks game to falsely claim that Jacob Blake was “unarmed” when he was shot by police last year.
“Blake, of course, was unarmed and shot seven times.”
Blake, himself, has since admitted that he had a knife during the altercation and video footage actually showed as much.
“I realized I had dropped my knife, had a little pocket knife. So I picked it up after I got off of him because they tased me and I fell on top of him,” Blake told Michael Strahan in an interview that aired Thursday on ABC’s Good Morning America (GMA).
“I shouldn’t have picked it up, only considering what was going on,” he continued. “At that time, I wasn’t thinking clearly.”
Blake’s admission contradicts past statements from his family and attorneys, who denied that he had a knife in his possession when police shot him on August 23rd.
As expected, soical media blasted him.

“How hard would it be to say, “ESPN does not support hate toward police, cheering for ACL injuries, celebrating death, or spreading lies?”
ESPN broadcaster @MarkJonesESPN spread a terrible lie when he told viewers Jacob Blake was unarmed when police shot him.
That’s 100% false, and anyone with access to the internet knows it. Will Jones apologize or is fake news now acceptable?
As obsessed as @MarkJonesESPN is with race “activism”, there is no possible way he missed Jacob Blake’s interview (aired by his employer, no less) where he admitted to having a knife.
It was (obviously) not good police work, but there’s zero excuse for lying about what happened.
