No one is safe at ESPN, and their latest round of firings are about to prove just that.
According to a bombshell report from the NY Post’s Andrew Marchand, the Worldwide Leaders in Sports are about to embark on another round of layoffs. And this one is expected to include some of the biggest names yet.
Among those expected to be without a job by the end of Friday are Jalen Rose and Jeff Van Gundy.
Via the NY Post:
ESPN is laying off some of its biggest stars, including Jeff Van Gundy and Jalen Rose, in a purge that is expected to result in around 20 on-air personalities being let go Friday as the network hopes to save tens of millions of dollars, The Post has learned.
The layoffs involve top NFL, NBA and ESPN Radio personalities, according to sources.
Marchand added that ESPN sent out an email Friday morning, informing all of their employees of their most recent round of layoffs. He also mentions that the “five-paragraph note” did not go into details about the network’s plans.
Jalen Rose and Jeff Van Gundy were both integral parts of ESPN’s basketball coverage.

They won’t be the only big-names to be handed their pinks slips today, either. It was previously reported that Max Kellerman, Keyshawn Johnson and Jay Williams were all in danger of losing their jobs after their morning radio show was canned.
Their firings have since been confirmed as well.
Monday Night Football’s Suzy Kolber and Steve Young are also believed to be among those who will lose their jobs today.
We should know exactly who all of those 20 on-air personalities are by the end of the day. Stay tuned.
