The biggest ‘What If’ story in the NBA, Derrick Rose, recently announced his retirement from professional basketball after 16 seasons in the league. The youngest NBA MVP’s career has substantially impacted the current generation of players. NBA young guns like Anthony Edwards and Tyrese Haliburton are among the players who benefitted from the ‘Rose Rule.’
During ESPN’s NBA Today show, sports analyst Bobby Marks precisely described how today’s generation of NBA players should be thankful for the Bulls legend. Due to The Rose Rule, Minnesota Timberwolves star Edwards and Indiana Pacers guard Haliburton, who have the joint-fifth largest NBA contracts in history, saw remarkable salary growth.
While explaining the impact of Derrick Rose’s career on current young NBA talents, ESPN’s Bobby Marks said. “They have Derrick Rose to thank. Whether it be Trese Haliburton last year or Anthony Edwards. Each of them saw an extra $40 million in their contracts because of the Rose Rule.”
What Is Derrick Rose Inspired ‘The Rose Rule’ In NBA Contracts?
Derrick Rose became the youngest NBA MVP at 22 in 2011. In his third year, the former Bulls star won the highest individual honor in the league, forcing new contract rules.
