The Los Angeles Lakers selected Bronny James in the second round of the 2024 NBA Draft. However, this decision upset many NBA fans, who began labeling it as nepotism. Critics argue that Bronny’s selection was heavily influenced by his father, LeBron James.
This debate continued recently when the South Bay Lakers decided to limit Bronny’s participation in G-League road games. NBA analyst Adrian Wojnarowski had previously noted that Bronny was receiving special treatment, a perspective recently echoed by ESPN analyst Ryan Clark.
“The pros isn’t about where you came from, how you were raised, what your parents had. Professional sports is about how well you can contribute. And you don’t get treated differently because of your parents, you get treated differently because of your ability to contribute,” Clark said on the latest episode of The Pivot Podcast.

The discourse surrounding James Jr.’s selection was prevalent among NBA analysts prior to the draft and remains a significant topic of conversation following his selection. While most critics have evaluated Bronny’s performance negatively, some analysts have shown their support for him.
Clark’s Assessment Of Bronny James’ Journey Ahead
Clark is a former American professional football player who played as a safety in the NFL. Throughout his 13-year career in the league, he faced numerous challenges. Notably, he went undrafted in the 2002 NFL Draft. He also experienced a serious health issue when he suffered a splenic infarction due to his sickle cell trait. Despite these obstacles, he ultimately became a legend in the league’s history. While reflecting on his journey, he made a bold prediction about Bronny James.
“Bronny James is going to have money but he ain’t gonna have the one thing that all of us ever want (which) is prove to ourselves. That’s what I wanted. I wanted to walk off the field and be like, ‘Man, they didn’t draft me and they cut me but look at me now,” Clark said.
