The Boston Celtics dominated the Miami Heat in Game 1 of the first round, except for a late Miami run in the fourth quarter. The game was not very competitive. The rivalry between the two teams was evident throughout, especially when Jayson Tatum of the Celtics and Miami Heat’s Caleb Martin clashed with less than a minute remaining in the game.
The Celtics ultimately won 114-94. Tatum was attempting to collect a rebound when he landed badly, causing a gasp from the Garden spectators. Jaylen Brown of the Celtics took offense when Martin tried to help Tatum and swatted him away. The game’s last ninety seconds began after a brief confrontation between Brown and Martin.

Jayson Tatum seemed unharmed after his rough fall to the court
Following the game, former Celtics forward Brian Scalabrine expressed his thoughts on what he perceived as a cheap shot against Boston and believes the Heat’s coaching staff purposely planned and staged Tatum’s hard foul. Brian Scalabrine thinks the Heat and Caleb Martin tried to take out Jayson Tatum.
“Erik Spoelstra called a timeout with a 1:30 left down by 16, 30 seconds later that play happens… that looked shady to me.” Brian Scalabrine said during the interview.
Although Tatum seemed unharmed after his rough fall to the court, he will have plenty of time to recover before meeting the Heat again on Wednesday. Tatum also shared his thoughts about the incident during a post-game interview.

I feel fine; I mean, I didn’t see it. I went for the rebound, got knocked out of the air, feel, and I got right up, ready to go shoot some free throws.” Tatum said after the game.
Tatum recorded his first triple-double of the postseason on Sunday against the Heat. He scored 23 points on 7-of-18 shooting and added 10 rebounds, 10 assists, and 2 steals.
