The NBA community is still reeling from the sudden passing of Kobe Bryant, but his shocking death has affected many other athletes from many different sports. That includes Emmanuel Sanders.
In honor of his memory, the San Francisco 49ers receiver will be wearing some amazing custom cleats for Super Bowl LIV.
Sanders, speaking to reporters at Super Bowl LIV Opening Night in Miami, Florida, shared the disbelief that struck him when he was informed Bryant had perished.
“I was on the plane (when I found out),” Sanders told reporters. “That news just hit me. I just couldn’t believe it. It’s unbelievable, man. My wife had texted me and told me (the news) and I thought she was lying. Then TMZ reported the news, I just didn’t know what to do … to find out, you know, that it happened that way — it’s just devastating. This entire world — he affected it. He was on (that helicopter with) with other people as well and his daughter. My heart goes out to his family.”
Bryant was a five-time NBA champion, two-time Finals MVP and won the league’s MVP award in 2008. Bryant made 18 All-Star appearances and was the MVP of the event four times.
