The Los Angeles Lakers hit a new low on Wednesday, suffering a crushing 134-93 defeat to the Miami Heat. The 41-point loss marked the Lakers’ biggest blowout of the season and was the worst defeat of head coach JJ Redick’s young coaching career.
After coming off a 109-80 loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves, the Lakers’ performance left fans deeply disappointed, with back-to-back blowouts exposing glaring weaknesses in their game. Following the game, Redick was candid about the team’s struggles and also shared the need for accountability on and off the court.
“There has to be some ownership. It’s easy to not want the ownership, particularly when it’s embarrassing. I’m embarrassed; we’re all embarrassed. It’s not a game that I thought we had the right fight, the right professionalism. This is my team, and I lead it. I’m embarrassed,” Redick said in the post-game press conference.

“But I can’t physically get us organized. I’m not blaming players. I own this, but we’re gonna need some ownership on the court as well. There’s not a sense from me that we’re together right now,” he added.
James Worthy Throws A Subtle Dig At JJ Redick’s Team
The Lakers’ biggest loss this season also brought them ire from Lakers legend James Worthy. Worthy remained critical in slamming the Lakers for their lack of effort against Miami.
“They need to get on the bus tonight and get some White Castle burgers and drive to Atlanta. And they need to think about who they are and what they need to do because what they’re doing right now ain’t even close to Laker basketball. Not even close,” Worthy said.
