Miami Heat icon Dwyane Wade is catching major hell over his recent statement on why the Big 3 of him, LeBron, and Chris Bosh got so much hate when they teamed up. Wade recently made a guest appearance on JJ Redick’s The Old Man & The Three podcast, and it was an opportunity for the Heat icon to get brutally honest with his thoughts on why their Big 3 garnered so much hate.
“If you think about it, no one gives backlash to any championships that Larry Bird won, that Magic Johnson won, that Michael Jordan won,” Wade said. “… You don’t win championships without playing with other guys that are great, first of all.”
Wade decided to drop a shocking truth bomb about how it was their skin color that was deciding factor of the hate they got.
“We knew that some of the hate was because of our skin color,” he claimed. “Because of being Black men and deciding to control the fate of our careers. … So, when we had the power, when we had the moment, we took it. But some of the hate came because we were three Black guys who decided and changed the way that the NBA probably would ever be because of that decision.”
The decision for them to link up in South Beach was a controversial one and certainly changed the way the NBA is right now.
Wade’s comments were not popular on Twitter:

Miami Heat became the 3rd franchise at that time to make 4-straight NBA Finals when those three hooked up. They won two titles before LeBron decided to go back home to Cleveland and win one in 2016 after coming back from 3-1.
Wade briefly left Miami to play for the Chicago Bulls and the Cleveland Cavaliers throughout 2016–2018 before returning to Miami to finish his playing career and retire with the Heat in 2019. He purchased a minority ownership stake in the Utah Jazz in 2021.
Bosh was forced to retire in 2017 because of recurring blood clots. He tried valiantly to come back but was advised to retire.
