On Friday, Kia Center hosted the high-stakes game 6 between the Magic and the Cavs. With the Cleveland side leading 3-2, the Magic needed some inspiration to force game 7, and the crowd thoroughly played its part.
In the crowd were two former Magic players, Dwight Howard and Rashard Lewis, who were welcomed by the home crowd with a thunderous ovation. During a timeout in the first quarter of the game, the duo were on the big screen. The arena announcer introduced the pair, who have a combined 10 NBA All-Star appearances between them.
Howard played for the Orlando franchise until 2012 after being selected first in the 2004 NBA Draft. The 3-time Defensive Player Of The Year was unable to bring the Championship to Orlando but is still regarded as one of the best players in the franchise’s history. On the other hand, Rashard Lewis had a brief career in Orlando from 2007 to 2010. His journey with the Magic ended on a sour note after he was suspended by the NBA for banned substance abuse in 2009.
With them in attendance, the Magic found their groove to snatch the win in the final quarter with a 103-96 win. The pulsating action in front of him might have reminded him of his heydays, as Dwight Howard still misses NBA action. He now plays for the Puerto Rican side, Mets de Guaynabo, after a brief stint in Taiwan. Since his 2022 exit from the Lakers, Howard has gone on record to express his desire for an NBA return, and recently he made that clear again.
Dwight Howard Pleads to Jeanie Buss for Lakers Reunion
Recently, Dwight Howard took his chance with the Lakers governor, Jeanie Buss, to make an NBA comeback. In the humorous video going viral on social media, the 38-year-old is seen singing to Buss, asking for another chance to represent the Purple and Gold.
“Lakers gimme a shot man, one more chance. Jeanie give me one more chance. Come on Jeanie,” sang the center in a plea to the Lakers chief. While he still insists that he is ready for the NBA, the controversies surrounding him stop that from happening.

In September last year, a man accused Dwight Howard of sexual assault. With the ongoing case, it is doubtful that an NBA team would want him back anytime soon.
