The first round of the 2024 NBA Draft was concluded on Wednesday, with several young talents being selected by various NBA teams. One standout talent picked by the Philadelphia 76ers at the no. 16 Draft pick is Jared McCain, a guard from the Duke Blue Devils. In a recent interview with Taylor Rooks of NBA TV, the 20-year-old guard expressed his excitement about being chosen by the 76ers. McCain mentioned that Duke has prepared him for different types of criticism, and he is eager to play for Philadelphia.
“Playing at Duke prepared me for any type of hate. I’m just going to be present in every moment.” Jared McCain said during his interview with Taylor Rooks.

His outstanding performance led to him earning the ACC Rookie of the Week honors for the second time just one month after his initial win. In April 2024, McCain decided to forgo his remaining college eligibility to enter the 2024 NBA draft.
“I am Ready For It”
McCain had an interview with the Philadelphia 76ers reporters, during which he discussed his selection for the team and expressed his readiness to join.
“Obviously, playing through, I learned to create space for him and just be able to let him do his work, find gaps, and find ways to get open. So, I think it’s a great transition for me. Obviously, that comes with a lot of hate and scrutiny wherever you go. but I think that’s preparing for where I’m at, especially with Philly, so I think I’m ready for it.” McCain said.
