Throughout Kawhi Leonard’s NBA career, the Los Angeles Clippers star has never played a full season, and last season was no different. Persistent knee inflammation prevented him from finishing the season. The injury even forced him to withdraw from Team USA in the Paris Olympics.
Recently, former NBA star Kendrick Perkins stirred controversy by suggesting that Leonard should consider retirement due to his ongoing knee issues. Perkins’ comments sparked strong reactions from Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green. Green voiced his disagreement on “The Draymond Green Show,” calling out Perkins.
“The moment was Kendrick Perkins telling Kawhi Leonard he needs to retire. I was baffled when I heard him say that because I just think, as an athlete, to know that a guy who people questioned whether he’s cheated the game,” Green said.
“His last three years in the NBA, nobody was pushing him into retirement, and everybody probably should have. The man averaged 2.5 points [per game] for three years straight, and nobody was pushing you to retire,” he added.
