The Wednesday night matchup between the Dallas Mavericks and Golden State Warriors brought a unique reunion as Klay Thompson faced his former team and his longtime “Splash Brother,” Stephen Curry, for the first time since joining the Mavericks in the offseason. The game lived up to its hype, with the Warriors edging out a thrilling 120-117 victory.
While the reunion game was expected to be a tough game for Curry, the Warriors star stunned all by putting up game-high points to lead the Warriors. After the game, Warriors forward Draymond Green revealed what fueled Curry’s performance. On his podcast, ‘The Draymond Green Show,’ Green shared that Curry’s motivation stemmed from Thompson “ghosting” him before the game.
“So I pissed Steph off ’cause [he] was supposed to speak before the game… Try to check in with Klay on something else, and Klay ghosted him. So he got pissed,” Green said.
Curry ended the game, scoring 37 points, six rebounds, and nine assists in his 35 minutes on the floor. On the other hand, Thompson added 22 points on 7-17 shooting, four rebounds, and three assists to his team’s loss.
Draymond Green Praises Stephen Curry Following Win Over The Mavs
Despite facing Klay Thompson as an opponent, Stephen Curry showed his intensity on the court. After the game, Draymond Green praised Curry’s dominance and focus, especially when going up against Thompson.
“I knew he’d come in ready to go. [It was] very evident by that first foul. He just wanted to take the ball from Klay so badly, but when you see him express that type of emotion, everybody else just falls in line,” Green said.
