In July 2023, Chris Paul joined the Golden State Warriors in a trade that sent Jordan Poole to the Washington Wizards. In the Warriors, Paul began playing alongside star player Stephen Curry. However, Draymond Green did not respond positively to this reunion.
In a recent episode of The Draymond Green Show, host Green shared an intriguing strategy involving two NBA superstars, Curry and Paul. The Warriors forward confessed that he intentionally tried to create a rift between the two players.
“I come in, and I’m watching him and Steph’s relationship, and I’m like, that ain’t going to work for us to be who we want to be — [Paul] being kind of your big bro. So I started being messy in between and creating a rift because I’m like, I need this rift in order for us to be able to move ahead. They were super tight. I started intentionally creating a rift, because I felt like CP was using that to his advantage.” Green said.
Green revealed that he deliberately stirred up tensions between Curry and Paul by frequently sparring with Paul in confrontational exchanges. On June 30, 2024, CP3 was waived and became a free agent. He later signed a one-year contract worth $11 million with the San Antonio Spurs.
The Intense Rivalry Between Paul And Curry
Curry and Paul have had a complex relationship that has seen on-court battles and personal clashes. Initially, they developed a strong friendship during the summer of 2009 while working together in practice sessions.
