After watching the media firestorm unfold over the last few days, Draymond Green finally addressed the media today regarding his dust-up with Jordan Poole at practice that resulted in the Golden State Warriors power forward punching Poole in the face.
While speaking at a press conference, Green apologized to Poole, his family and his teammates.
“I was wrong for my actions. For that, I apologized. The embarrassment that Jordan, this team, this organization has to deal with, but also his family saw that video.. For that, I apologize to his mother & his father.”
While Green was awfully remorseful at times, there were also times when he seemed to be trying to suggest that the video was edited to make his actions look worse than they really were.
“If I’m being 100% honest, I thought it was bullshit (that the video leaked)… I watched the video 15 times, maybe more. When I watched the video, I’m like, ‘yo, this looks awful. Looks even worse than I thought.'”

To his credit, Green did acknowledge that no matter how the video looked, what he did was inexcusable. He also admitted that, while he felt it was “bullshit” that the video was leaked, he was very grateful to the Warriors organization for investigating how the footage made it out to the public — as they definitely didn’t need to go to bat for Draymond in that regard.
Draymond also went on to say that he is planning on playing in the Warriors’ season opener against the Los Angeles Lakers, but he’s unsure if that will be the case. Much of that will come down to the team’s decision on how they want to handle this situation.
For now, it’s expected that Green will take some time away from the team to clear his head and figure things out.
