One would hardly see Draymond Green regret getting involved in altercations with his contemporaries, but he still cannot get over his incident with former teammate Jordan Poole more than a year ago.
On Monday’s episode of “The Draymond Green Show”, the Golden State Warriors veteran was joined by his teammate Kevon Looney. Recalling his infamous moment with Poole, the host said, “One of the worst feelings I’ve ever had as an NBA player, was seeing him get a contract and knowing that I f**ked it off and I couldn’t celebrate his contract with him.”
During a practice session in October 2022, the Washington Wizards guard allegedly told Draymond, “You’re an expensive backpack for 30,” which meant that he was being carried by the team leader, Stephen Curry. Unable to tolerate such an insult from Poole, the 4-time champion landed a punch in his face.
When Poole began his NBA journey with the Dubs, it was Draymond who had taken his responsibility. However, things changed drastically after the fight. When the franchise signed the youngster for a four-year deal worth $123 million, Green couldn’t present to celebrate his big moment with him as he was aware of the damage that had already happened.
Besides discussing past incidents on the podcast, the 34-year-old also talked about the Warriors’ future in one of the episodes.
