The Golden State Warriors kicked off their season with a 140-104 victory over the Portland Trail Blazers on Wednesday night. However, amid the celebration, Draymond Green found himself facing an early challenge as he received a technical foul in the fourth quarter.
This incident has put him on pace for 82 technical fouls this season. On “The Draymond Green Show” with former NBA star Baron Davis, Green expressed his frustration about the foul with a bold claim for this season.
“That tech was some bullshit, bro. Listen, I was bantering back and forth with Tyler Ford. I got nothing but love and respect for Tyler. Tre Maddox comes and stands next to me at the free throw line, and he’s like, ‘Tell me what’s wrong.’ And I was like, ‘That’s not a foul, man.’ It’s not a foul,” Green said.
“I’m gonna have less than 10 technical fouls this year. I might even make a decision to keep it less than eight,” he added.
Steve Kerr Defends Draymond Green’s Passion Despite Technical Fouls
After a victorious opening game for the Warriors, head coach Steve Kerr stood firmly by Draymond Green’s side, defending Green’s emotional style as essential to his impact. Kerr added that he and the coaching staff are prepared to support Green, whether by calling a timeout or helping him calm down.
“You can’t ask Draymond to play with this amazing passion, energy, and effort and then tell him no; you have to tone down the emotion; it is all part of the package. It is up to us whether it is taking a timeout or just trying to calm him down, but there is a reason Draymond is who he is,” Kerr said.
