Draymond Green, a Golden State Warriors player, made controversial comments during a recent episode of ‘The Big Podcast with Shaq’. While discussing with Shaquille O’Neal, a retired NBA player, Green mentioned that he was suspended for trying to hit LeBron James, the Lakers’ star. He compared this incident to Jamal Murray throwing a heating pad and being fined only 100k, suggesting that the throwing incident was more severe.
“I would’ve been suspended for the rest of the playoffs for sure. I tried to hit Bron and got suspended from game five in the finals.” Green said.
Shaq questioned whether he had hit LeBron, and then Green responded.
“Damn right, I tried to hit him, ain’t gonna step over my shoulder. A lot of space on the basketball court. I don’t take up that much space. You don’t need to go over my shoulder. You go over my shoulder, you disrespected me as a man, and so I got suspended for trying to make contact, and you throw a heating pack on the court, and that’s okay.” Green added.
Draymond Green outlined the negative effects of Murray’s act
Green further explained Murray’s actions’ consequences. He stated that such actions could have hurt someone and emphasized that the rules should apply to everyone equally.
“If somebody stepped on that heated pack and got hurt, then is it a bigger deal? Or is it not? Don’t tell me we don’t want to affect the outcome of the game because the outcome of an NBA Finals was affected. We want the players to determine what was happening on the court and the outcome unless that rule changes.” Green continued.
